About the Museum

Preserving and sharing Zambia's rich heritage with the world, one story at a time.

Back to Home

The Museum of Living Heritage was born from a simple yet powerful belief: that Zambia's extraordinary history belongs to everyone.

For too long, the rich tapestry of Zambian heritage has remained scattered across dusty archives, fading memories, and isolated communities. Stories of ancient kingdoms, colonial resistance, independence heroes, and everyday people have risked being lost to time. We created this digital museum to change that.

Our mission is to collect, preserve, and share Zambian history in a way that is accessible to all. Whether you're a student in Lusaka, a researcher in London, or a member of the diaspora reconnecting with your roots, this museum is for you. We believe that history should not be locked away in institutions but should live and breathe in the hearts of people everywhere.

What We Do

We are building a living archive of Zambian heritage that grows with contributions from people like you.

Preserve

We document heritage sites, oral histories, photographs, and artifacts before they are lost to time, creating a permanent digital record for future generations.

Educate

We make Zambian history accessible through engaging articles, interactive timelines, and curated collections that bring the past to life.

Connect

We bring together communities, historians, and storytellers to share knowledge and ensure that diverse voices are represented in our national narrative.

Meet the Founders

The Museum of Living Heritage was founded by two historians with a shared passion for making Zambian history accessible to everyone.

Our Vision

We envision a world where every Zambian, wherever they are, can access and engage with their heritage. A world where the stories of our ancestors are not forgotten but celebrated, and where future generations inherit not just the land but the rich history that makes Zambia truly special.

This is a museum without walls. It belongs to all of us.
